There are lots of new things going on at 1623 Farnam this year with growth designed to better serve our customers and partners. 1623 Farnam president Todd Cushing had a chance for a virtual sit down recently with JSA TV at ITW 2020 to discuss some of these exciting developments. One of the major developments is regarding the considerable expansion taking place this summer in our edge data center.

“We’ve always been N+1 but now we’re going to have all new electrical, all new mechanical, new security and building management to the facility. The 7th floor is going to be available for leasing at the 12th of August and we’re going to commission the new mechanical on mid-October this year”, explains Cushing. In addition, he continues, “a new lobby is going to be happening in the first quarter, and a new security desk. We’re really excited to be able to put a new face on the front of the building on the north side.”

The expansions at 1623 Farnam aren’t just construction projects, either. There are new carriers and routes coming aboard as well. Cushing elaborates: “We’ve got a few more carriers, I think there’s three or four more carriers we’re bringing on. New fiber from existing clients that are expanding onto other new floors, expanding their footprint here, which we’re happy about. We also have three new routes coming in from Chicago, or Denver into our facility that we’re building.” Cushing attributes these additions to hyperscale activity in the area – there are plenty of new hyperscale developments in the Omaha metro, and this growth has led to a lot of new tenant onboarding for 1623 Farnam. For Cushing, expanding through those relationships is important, as it means further interconnection for the facility’s robust ecosystem.
